This year once again we will be
using the Sportident timing system used at events such as The
Three Peaks Race, Kentmere, several mountain marathons and the
Ian Hodgson Relay.
Most regular
fell runners will now be conversant with the system which
is simple to use, accurate and instant but a brief explanation
may be needed to ensure smooth running on the day of the event.
One team member
at the start will be given a plastic SI-card or “dibber”
which will be carried on a piece of string around the neck.
At the finish
of each leg the team member will have to touch the “dibber”
into the electronic control station, a small plastic box which
will be on a stake in the ground or hand held by a checkpoint
marshal, either way they will be assisted in this task by
the marshal. The “dibber” is then passed on to
the next leg runners.
For the few
teams which find themselves in the mass starts for legs 4
and 5 those teams should be at the start of their legs in
plenty of time for an extra “dibber” to be allocated
to them.
At the finish
the last leg runners will need to have their “dibber”
interrogated and they will be given an instant printout of
all of their teams respective leg times.
Please take
care of your “dibber” a lost one means no times
for your team and costs money! For further information go
